Neighbours Market is a pilot program to support 30 local households struggling with the high cost of living and affording nutritious food. The market offers ready-made “HelloFresh” style meal kits and baking kits, fresh produce, and grocery staples at a significantly subsidized price. Spaces in the program are filled through referrals from local health and nonprofit agencies, but we also want to create awareness in the wider community for residents who might not be connected to these supports.
Join us for an open house! 🛒
We are inviting community members interested in learning about the affordable market and local service providers to join us on July 17th for an Open House from 3-6pm! Try a sample of one of the meal kits and baking kits, spend some time in our garden, and take a kit to make at home! The program is open to families, seniors, and individuals facing short-term financial challenges, but we welcome anyone who would like to learn about and experience the market to drop by.
Why?
Food insecurity, or the inadequate or uncertain ability to access food due to financial constraints, is impacting more residents working full-time, dual-income households, and single adults with no one to share their expenses. Research tells us that only 1 in 5 people experiencing food insecurity will access a food bank. This program is intended to fill the gap between emergency food relief and regular grocery stores. Neighbours Market is funded by a CBT ReDi grant administered by the Town of Golden, and is being offered by the Golden Food Bank from June to November 2024!
