Learn about extending the garden season by starting seeds indoors.
Extend the growing season by starting seeds indoors: Participants will learn about starting seeds indoors ahead of the garden season and get hands-on learning by starting their own tray of seeds to take home with them! Trays, soil, seeds supplied by the GFB. You do not need grow lights or a fancy set-up! Even though grow lights do help, a sunny south-facing window will also work!
What to bring: Water, a snack, and weather-appropriate clothing. If the weather is good we will be in the Food Bank Garden, in the event in inclement weather we will take it inside the Food Bank. If you have tips on how to grow beautiful vegetables, bring those too!
Registration: Pre-registration is required, as our group will be limited to 12 participants to ensure everyone has the chance to ask questions and learn. You are welcome to register with children, provided they are accompanied by an adult and able to sit and listen to the instruction reasonably well.
Cost: Tickets are $15, to cover the cost of supplies. Those who would like to attend but identify as facing financial barriers are invited to use code seeds100 to get a free ticket when registering. A 50% off option is available for those who would benefit, use code seeds50 when registering.
