Donate Money
Your donations make all the difference. The GFB is a nonprofit society independent of core government funding, meaning we rely on donations and grants to cover our program and operating costs each year. Donations are generally allocated to areas of greatest financial need, or donors have the option to designate a program where they’d like to direct support.
One-time and monthly donations with your debit or credit card can be set up online on our
CanadaHelps page.
Cash and cheque donations can be mailed or dropped off at the address below anytime during office hours, Monday to Thursday 10AM to 4PM.
Our mailing address:
PO Box 1047
1407 9th Street S
Golden BC, V0A 1H0
We also accept e-transfers to info@goldenfoodbank.ca. Please indicate in the notes that it is a donation with the full name and address we can forward your tax receipt to. We issue tax receipts for all donations $20 or greater. Thank you for the support!
Donate Food
Food donations are accepted anytime during office hours - Monday to Thursday, 10AM-4PM. If you have food to donate or are organizing a community food drive, here are a few things to think about:
Many of the food donations we receive don’t make it onto our shelves because they are too far past the best before date or have previously been opened. If you are running an event or a food drive, consider asking for a monetary donations instead. Cash donations allow us to use our bulk-buying power to purchase nutritious staples and most needed items at a discount.
All donated food must be inspected before we can give it out. Sorting through the food you are donating using the criteria below is an extra gift of time to our volunteers and staff!
We are not able to accept open, expired, damaged, or homemade food items
Dry goods are fit for consumption past their best before date within the following guidelines from Food Banks Canada: CANNED, JARRED, BOTTLED: 1-2 Years | BOXED, BAGGED: 6-12 Months
Most needed items:
Toilet paper, baby diapers, personal hygiene and cleaning products, dried fruit, nuts and jerky, seasonings and herbs, cooking oil and broths, baking powder and yeast, gluten-free and vegetarian items, pet food.
